Ever since I was a kid, I would always look forward to it almost everyday. Of course I was after the mountains of gifts. What child doesn't. But I'm also kinda sad that as you get older, you feel obliged to grow up. You get less and less gifts every year. My mom is kinda developing this "one-gift" policy since I'm old na so I always make sure this "one-gift" is really expensive. Gosh, pretty soon it's gonna be a "no-gift" policy. I better milk it while I can.

Ooh and since it's Christmas, that means lots of parties and family gatherings. And these mean lotsa food! Yum! I'm so gonna gain weight again but I think Christmas is the wrong time to diet anyway. It's like being chaste on your honeymoon dontcha think?

And for some of my friends who've been asking, my sis finally found out she's having a girl! Which makes shopping all the more easier now coz shopping for neutral colors was a pain in the a#s! So now the baby is gonna be named Ciara. Nice name.

On a sadder note, What do you guys think of that meningitis like disease that's sweeping the Philippines? Well not really sweeping but still, it's time to be alarmed if more than one person has it. I've been so scared to touch, eat or smell anything ever since I got hooked on this new show "Medical Investigation." It's like CSI but the bad guy is some kind of disease or epidemic. Gosh, who knew you can turn your entire body blue by just putting salt on scrambled eggs. Watch the show and you'll see what I'm talking about. I usually download the episodes but they just started showing it here on RPN 9 on sundays.

Well that's all for now, I'll try to answer most of the comments tomorrow. Thanks for reading!

Maybe it's coz I'm fat

Ok, It's been almost a month since I last updated but I have a very good excuse! I just have to think of one first. Haha. But seriously, a lot of things have been happening this past month and I don't even know if I should write about all of them. Oh well maybe I'll just write about some. My tito passed away last week. It's really sad because he was a really good man. He was a gentleman, a father, a very good uncle, and a loving friend. Normally, deaths don't really affect me much because I don't see them happen. I just usually go to the wake, pay my respects, and just feel sad about it. It's just different this time because I saw him die. No, not in some morbid sick way that some of you are thinking. Here's the story: My sister and I were in Makati Medical and we had plans to visit our cousin who got into an accident on his vespa and after which, we were gonna visit our tito who had fallen into a coma at his house. Most of our family members were at his house so we thought we'd keep our cousin company first since we thought no one was watching him. As we were about to enter the elevator, my sister got a call. She didn't tell me any details so I assumed that he died so we would have to postpone visiting our cousin and rush off to my tito's house. Here I was stressed to death (pardon the pun) driving like a madman just so we can make it in time to see him before they cart off his body or whatever (though i really had no intention of looking at a dead body), then as I was near my tito's house, my sister tells me that he's not dead yet! WTF?! He's just "going." Great. As much as I want to be sympathetic to my family's loss, watching someone die is way worse than looking at a dead body. I'll just skip the sad details and just say I saw him take his last breath and I watched as his wife and children and the rest of my family members cry uncontrollably. I didn't cry. I couldn't. I never cried at a funeral in my life. When my lola died, I don't know if I genuinely cried or I just forced the tears to come out of me because everyone else was wailing and they might think I'm so emotionless. When my tito had his funeral 2 days ago. I was deadset on imbibing all possible emotions and to allow myself to cry. Everyone was crying. I couldn't. The most I could do was get my eyes slightly red but I think that was because I was starting to get sick at that time because of my cough, cold, fatigue, lack of sleep etc. So I have come to the conclusion that my friend was right before in assessing me. I cannot show emotion in public. I cannot cry, show affection, and sometimes it annoys me when my parents or my sis try to be all cutesy and huggy and call me cutesy names in public. Am I weird? I guess I just don't like to call attention to myself. This is so weird because I've always wanted to be in the limelight yet sometimes I do everything not to get noticed. Hmmm....maybe I have a problem. Or maybe it's because I'm fat! I always try to find a way to blame my fat. Speaking of which, one of my titas is not my friend anymore! While this whole dying thing with my tito was occuring in his room, this somewhat "hefty" aunt of mine directs this comment towards me: "Hay, I don't know ba, their parents are so thin but these children are so fat!" Hello, that's the pot calling the kettle black! Growl. Oh well it's situations like these that make me realize that it's totally ok for fat people to call other people fat. It's therapeutic.

So the funeral is over and done with and now I'm sick. I had to go home early because I felt like I was gonna hurl something the size of Cadillac Escalade. I won't go into the gory details. I will just say that bedrest is so dang boring. I was losing my mind yet I was too weak to do anything. Gosh, when I get sick, the ailments always have to come in groups. Maybe it's coz I'm fat. Oh well, I'm feeling better now except for severe nasal and throat congestion. Now I'm off to my tito's 9th day novena mass. I feel bad that i had to miss the birthday party of my cousin's girlfriend yesterday. I could never resist free food.

Gosh, I missed so many movies! I didn't even get to see the Grudge yet and I guess they stopped showing it. Weird. Oh well, there's still the Incredibles, the Forgotten. and the Manchurian Candidate. Time to make kulit friends. Haven't seen a lot of them for a really long time! Well, maybe that's coz I'm fat.

Delinquent

Yes, I know, I haven't updated this week. Things just got busy. Job stuff and all. So cross your fingers people. So anyway I'm just gonna write about some highlights this week ok?

On monday, my very good friend Sam's dad died. She was one of my closest friends in high school and her family was a regular 7th Heaven family. Not the kind with the preacher dad and the millions of kids. The kind where you always felt welcome and even after 4 years of not getting together, they still remember you. It was a sad day because they were such a good family and he was still in the prime of his life. Please pray for my friend's family.

On the same day, I had a job interview with this other company which I've been dying to get into. I won't say what it is but I hope I really get it so CALL ME BACK PLEASE?!

On thursday, I went with my friend to this HP Commdap blah blah thing at the NBC tent. Omigosh! Technolust! If I brought all my credit cards with me, I would've bought so much but sadly, they only accepted BPI cards which I left at home! It was a nice fair. We had to line up to register but there were only two booths: 1 for students and 1 for those that represent companies/ or those that are employed. We were neither. So we go to the woman handling one booth and we ask her, " Miss, umm hindi na kami students pero we're not working either so paano na?" She laughs at us! The nerve of her. Anyway, she just made us sign up as students and I had to stick this ugly looking sticker on my shirt that said STUDENT while I noticed that most of the exhibitors were my peers from Ateneo. Eeep.

After the NBC tent, we watched the 12:30 showing of Wimbledon. Ummm the jury is still out on whether the movie was any good or not. I'm leaning towards not so good at the moment. Then we went to Cris' mom's office on Ayala Ave for some errands then we went on a shopping trip to good ol' Rustan's. We had a super late lunch at Bon Appetit which had the most delicious Bulalo pasta I've ever tasted! Yes it sounds weird but it's heavenly! Trust me!

Friday Night. We watched the 11:30 pm showing of Fahrenheit 9/11. It was such a disturbing film. You really feel like hating Bush after all the gore and the mistakes you see on screen. But it wasn't all bad. My friend had this little incident that was so hilarious so it kinda lightened the mood. I won't talk more about it coz my friend might kill me. Oh yeah, let's not forget the earthquake! We were at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf lusting after the Powerbook, 4G iPod, and Treo of this kid who sat beside us when suddenly all the hanging lamps started to shake real hard. I thought I was just tipsy but I don't drink (I know LOSER) so that couldn't have been it. People whipped out their phones and started calling people. Wow, scary. All these earthquakes, hurricanes in other countries, and possible volcanic eruption remind me of one movie: The Day After Tomorrow. Don't watch it if you're paranoid right now. I got scared to go on a plane after watching it.

Oh well, that's all for now. OOH Alicia Keys tonight!

No better time than the present

I've been a bum waaaaaay to long. It's my fault actually. I didn't really actively seek out a job because I didn't have a "I have to work" mindset yet. Well it's been six months and I decided to get off my lazy ass and start being responsible. Good news is the job offers are coming in. The bad news is that they are all equally tempting and the steps I have to go through are really tedious (especially the medical part). Oh well, sometimes I think I'm wading around too much that I might just lose all the offers and come out with nothing. It's so hard to be fickle.

On a different note, has anyone seen the new billboard of Kia motors? The one where it asks if its cars are better than the other brands of cars in its class then it answers: "Maybe not, but our cars are better than before." Or something like that anyway. Hmmm....ummmm....can I send my resume to them? I think I can come up with a better ad than that! I guess they took the whole truth in advertising a little bit too seriously.

Oh yeah, I had a lot of fun last night! Chocolate buffet with sina Cris at the Penn then Dumpling and siomai from North Park at my condo after. Oh and I met a new friend, Crissy! Hi! Had fun! It was more of a wi-fi party actually. though I have to admit that the chocolate buffet was a bit overrated. I think the toblerone yin-yang fondue of Swiss Inn would've been a better choice for my P500. Nevertheless, I still overate. Does anyone else like the Cream Cheese stuffed crust pizza of Pizza Hut? I love it to death but no one seems to agree with me. Hope they don't discontinue it.

Ron 2.0

Thanks so much to my very very good friend Cris who redesigned my entire blog. I'm a Stitch fan and proud of it. So anyway, its been such a loooooooong time since I've written here so I'm just going to write about today's events (or maybe backtrack just a bit). Well, I had to wake up super early today because I had to go and have my medical for my new (and first) job. Let's just say it was a bit of a shocker! I don't like the idea of sticking needles in my body even if I have donated blood before. Actually this was the easy part. When I reached the physical, lets just say things got a little bit "too physical" for my taste. And I was so tempted to drop-kick this super annoying nurse. During the medical history interview, she tells me: " Sir, I've got news for you, medyo overweight tayo." The nerve of her! Tell me something I don't know!

So anyway, I finish with my medical and was off to SSS to get my number. I was efficient because I downloaded the form I needed from their website so I can line up right away. When i get there, the place was packed! I felt like there was a B.O. convention because these people so weren't smelling pretty. I get to my line which was the shortest one because there were only 5 people ahead of me. Then this guy slaps me on the back (real hard mind you) and tells me I need to move my car. I looked for the driver everywhere with no luck and there was no cel reception in area so i was screwed. I hastily left the line and decided to move it only to realize I don't have the keys. Finally, the driver shows up and I go back in the building only to see that there are 20 people ahead of me (who smelled even worse). I wanted to cry. It took almost an hour to get to me and when I gave my documents to the lady at the counter (who bears a striking resemblance to Ursula from the Little Mermaid), she tells me that I can't submit these. She flings them to the side and says, " Anong gagawin ko dito?" I wanted to bitchslap her like there was no tomorrow but I said that my documents were complete and I was on the correct line so give me my FREAKING SSS number! She said she didn't want forms printed from the net coz they wont be uniform and the paper isn't pink! The hell! It came from their website! So I have to go get another form, fill it out, and get my thumbs inked again! Then i had to get back in line and charm the pants of Ursula to get me through quicker! Argh!!!!! Thank God that's over. I so dropped dead when I got home.

IN THE NEWS:
1. Paris Hilton has a new incriminating video tape!
- Sheesh, at least get Michael Moore to direct the video if you want a documentary about yourself.
2. Tony Blair was heckled to death in his speech about a better Britain.
- This man is cool... but I think the scriptwriter deserves all the credit. I will admit that Blair has a great sense of
humor (in contrast to GMA's rather sharp forked tongue on occasion.)
3. The Viagra you're buying over the net may be fake.
- Wow, half of what are sold in the net are supposedly fake! Now they know how Louis Vuitton feels.

Well, that's it for now. I'l write about more past events tomorrow. Have to wake up early and deal with PLDT service people.

Wow! Long Time!

It's been a long time since I've updated. Well, that's coz there's nothing new going on now. The elections are probably the only interesting thing going on in the nation today. It looks like Gloria is winning. Well, I actually have no comment on that. She's not bad but she's not good either. Oh well, whoever wins, I don't think I'll be migrating to the states. It's just too drastic. Democracy has its consequences. Just my two cents.

Anyway, well the storm has really ravaged a lot. It makes me miss school cancellations but now that I'm out of school, I feel sad. WAAAAHH. Do I sound crazy that I wanna go back to school? Ugh, now I have to stress myself to look for a job. Hayayay, I don't think I'm ready. I got an e-mail from my friend Cris today about a job opening for Spanish speakers in a call center. This came from a girl who said that I should never work in a call center because it's just not done. Make up your mind dude! Hehehe. Well if you're reading this, I hope you have a great vacation in the states. If I see you there, treat me to krispy kreme hehehe.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sosyfatsron.blogspot.com/2004/05/wow-long-time.html' title='Wow! Eddie Gil is so creepy. Anyway, some of my friends wanted a close-up of how my desktop looks so here it is:

Also, I was updating my resume and I think I need to increase the socially oriented part of it. My family won't even believe that I can do stuff like that selflessly. Well, I did work with kids who have cancer and other ailments while I was a senior in Ateneo. Originally, it was just to fulfill my immersion requirement but I felt a sense of civic duty right after. Anyway, during the 2nd semester, my lazy ass just prevented me from continuing with the project. Oh well, I'm still young. Oh yeah, and I have proof that I did do this! Here I am with my friends at the East Avenue Medical Center:

Yey! It's Sunday

Sunday is the day of rest. Well since I'm kinda jobless, everyday is a day of rest for me. What's sunday without my fill of the latest local tsismis from the Buzz and S-files. So what's new? Well it's been a slow newsday in the showbiz world. Kris Aquino decides to shut up about the issues regarding the men in her life but watch out for her next week when she lashes out at them again. Aiko and Ara Mina are at it again too. Aren't we just so sick of it?! And the biggest shocker of them all...Mahal is sexually active! She even thought she was pregnant and had the results of her test unveiled live! Well sadly there's no bun in the oven but apparently sexually active "small people" are juicier than the results of the elections. Oh well, as if I care. Gossip has always been intriguing.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sosyfatsron.blogspot.com/2004/05/yey-its-sunday.html' title='Yey! My first post!

Well, I've decided to join the blog bandwagon although I think I'm like a year too late for that. Oh well. Anyway, I just have to say I have been happy recently because I am now officially a Mac user. After crying, screeching, begging, threatening, and just being the most annoying person you've ever met, my parents finally conceded and bought me my 12.1" iBook G4 1 GHz. Yes I'm a brat, so deal with it. I named my baby Wynona. All my friends think it's an odd name but if you consider the circumstances (she stole my heart. She's also stealing my money coz I'm going broke buying accessories, software and anything Mac-related. She also stole time because I haven't been sleeping tinkering with it!), it sounds logical. Urgh, anyway that's about it for today. Oh yeah, I was in Festival Mall today because the people I was with decided to go to mass at 4pm. What a loser mall! No offense to the patrons of this mall though. But honestly, the crowd there is really different. Sigh, I guess this is why some people consider me an "elitista" especially since I'm from Ateneo daw. Whatever! So not true. I love all people regardless of race, religion or bank account size. Unfortunately, my parents seem to like going here for mass too so we can go shopping afterwards or whatever. Talk about the Mall really being my place of worship. Tsk Tsk.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sosyfatsron.blogspot.com/2004/05/woohoo-my-first-post.html' title='Woohoo!
